“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat… John 21:3
Purpose:
To reach men with the gospel of Jesus Christ and build relationships that support the discipleship of these men.
Date:
Saturday, May 24th from 6:00 am until 2:00 pm.
Location:
Surfside Beach Public Boat Ramp (Coast Guard Dr, Surfside Beach, TX 77541). We will have lunch at a local restaurant after fishing.
Registration:
Free! Space is limited so register now. We will prioritize opportunities for those who have not attended Blast & Cast events in the past. Veteran Blast & Cast participants should find a way to volunteer and support the event.
Minimum Age: Youth anglers must be accompanied by a guardian. Limit one youth participant per adult guardian, no exceptions.
Fishing:
We will have volunteers present along with their boats. Our volunteer boat owners are not licensed guides and are not being compensated for the trip. No tips are allowed, but please bring cash to chip in for your portion of gas, ice, and bait. Each volunteer boat owner will be assigned a fishing party that is suitable to their boat and style of fishing. While we keep fathers and sons together, usually you will be fishing with people you don’t know. This is done purposefully so please don’t be surprised. Please be flexible in your style of fishing and plan to follow the lead of the boat owner you are assigned to. Essentially, treat this like a fishing trip with a friend… this is NOT a guided trip.
Participants will arrive at 6:00 am to be checked in and paired up for the day of fishing.
Meals:
After fishing, everyone is invited to a group lunch at a local restaurant at 1pm. The lunch location will be announced at check in. Please bring cash to cover your lunch.
Rules:
What to bring:
Suggested tackle:
Plan to fish for redfish and speckled trout. Each fisherman should bring their own rod. Appropriate rods are medium-light to medium action, 6-7ft long, either spinning or bait-casting. 12lb test monofilament or 20-30lb test braided line is sufficient. We recommend putting fresh line on reels if you haven’t done so in the last few months.
