Purpose:\u00a0<\/strong>To build meaningful relationships with other outdoorsmen for the purpose of leading them to, or back to, Jesus Christ.<\/p>\n

Primary check-in will begin on Friday, October 24th from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm <\/strong>at the lodge. If you will not be able to check in by noon on Friday, please let us know ahead of time. The event will officially end at noon on Sunday, October 26th<\/strong>. Everyone must check out by noon on Sunday. Volunteers must check in and be on site by 11:00 am on Friday.<\/strong><\/p>\n

We will stay at the Oak Island Lodge, which is located at 202 Jackson Dr, Anahuac TX, 77514. Website: www.oakislandlodge.net.<\/p>\n

Registration:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Men of all ages and skill levels welcome.\u00a0 First registered first reserved!\u00a0 If you have been to a Blast & Cast event in the past, please make every effort to bring someone new to the event.\u00a0 Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Limit one youth participant per parent\/guardian, no exceptions.<\/p>\n

Hunting: <\/strong>All participants will have the option to dove hunt both evenings on a nearby field with Jim West Guide Service.\u00a0 Please note that the cost of dove hunting is not covered in the registration fees.<\/em>\u00a0 Those who choose to dove hunt will pay the outfitter directly when you show up at the field each day.\u00a0 Cash only, $100 per adult hunter.\u00a0 Youth aged 13 and under hunt free with a paying adult, and youth aged 14-17 hunt half price.\u00a0 Each participant will need to bring their own shotgun, shells, stool, and any other gear necessary to hunt on their own and clean their own birds.\u00a0 Volunteers will help shuttle participants to and from the dove fields each evening.<\/p>\n

Fishing:\u00a0 <\/strong>All participants will have the option to go fishing on Trinity Bay, East Galveston Bay, and\/or Sabine Lake all three days of the event.\u00a0 Volunteer boat owners will be present to take everyone fishing. Each participant will need to bring their own rods, reels, tackle, and any other gear necessary, and plan to clean your own fish should you choose to retain any.\u00a0 Fishing is covered in the registration fees.<\/p>\n

Please note that our volunteer boat owners are paying their way and are not professionals, nor are they licensed guides. No tips are allowed, but participants should bring cash to help split expenses like gas, ice, and bait. Each volunteer boat owner will be assigned a fishing party each day. While we keep fathers and sons together, usually you will be fishing with people you don\u2019t know. This is done purposefully so please don\u2019t be surprised. Additionally, we will try to pair volunteer boat owners with parties suitable to their preferred method of fishing, but please remember to be flexible as this won\u2019t always be possible.<\/p>\n

Meals:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Dinner will be provided for both Friday and Saturday night meals. On Saturday and Sunday mornings we will serve breakfast. A limited supply of drinks and snacks will be available but plan to bring your favorite soft drinks. Leftovers will be available for lunches, but most parties will eat out based on their fishing\/hunting location and schedule.<\/p>\n

Freebies: <\/strong>If you\u2019d like to donate door prizes or fishing tackle, please let us know.<\/p>\n

  1. Perfect people are not allowed. Come as you are, no pretending.<\/li>\n
  2. No drunkenness. Alcohol in moderation is allowed, but not in the field or on the boats, please.<\/li>\n

    What to bring:\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n

      \n
    • For dove hunting, valid Texas hunting license with migratory game bird endorsement (or Texas Super Combo license), HIP certification, and proof of hunter’s education<\/li>\n
    • For fishing, valid Texas saltwater fishing license (or Texas Super Combo license)<\/li>\n
    • For dove hunting, shotgun (with plug) and shells, dove stool or chair, camo or earth-tone clothing, mosquito spray, and anything necessary to clean your birds<\/li>\n
    • For saltwater fishing, rods, reels, tackle, ash for boat gas, ice, or any live bait you would like to use, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and anything necessary to clean your fish<\/li>\n
    • A willing attitude that\u2019s eager to help make it work and have a good time \u2013 remember, everyone there is a volunteer, so set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
