DESCRIPTION:“I’m going out to fish\,” Simon Peter told them\, and they said\, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat… John 21:3 \nPurpose: \nTo point outdoorsmen to the cross by introducing local bass anglers\, businesses\, and churches to the East Texas Chapter of Blast & Cast Men’s Ministries. \nDate:   \nSaturday\, June 14th\, from 5:30 am until 1:00 pm. \nRegistration:  \nFree!  Space is limited so register now.  We will prioritize opportunities for those who have not attended Blast & Cast events in the past.  Veteran Blast & Cast participants should find a way to volunteer and support the event. \nAge limitations/restrictions: No age limit. All youth must attend with a parent or guardian. \nFishing: \nJoin us to enjoy a morning of bass and/or crappie fishing on Houston County Lake near Crockett\, TX. We will meet at the Crockett Lakefront RV Resort & Marina in front of the store and launch the boats at the marina after boat assignments and a quick prayer. After a morning of fishing\, we will meet back at the store to have lunch\, share stories\, and hear a devotion.  All boats are owned and operated by volunteers\, not guides\, so participants should bring their own fishing gear and expect to split any expenses. Tips are not allowed but help with fuel expenses and ice is appreciated. While fathers and sons stay together\, we try to pair anglers with people that they do not know in order to help make new relationships\, so don’t be surprised by this. After a great morning on the water\, we hope you’ll have a new fishing buddy and some stories to share over lunch. \nMeals: \nPizza\, wings\, and snacks are available for purchase at the marina.  Please bring snacks and drinks for on the boat. \nRules: \n\nNo perfect people allowed. Come as you are\, no pretending.\nAlcohol will not be allowed on boats but will be allowed in moderation after the boat is on the trailer.\nPlease be mindful of your language when youth participants are around.\nHave a good time.\n\nWhat to bring:  \n\nValid Texas fishing license with freshwater endorsement.\nAll participants – $5.00 cash for the daily use fee.\nDrinks and Snacks for the boat.\nCash for lunch at the store.\nBoat owners – please bring at least three (3) life vests.\nParents – Please provide a life vest for all youth participants under the age of 16 yrs.\nEveryone should bring their own fishing tackle and gear for a morning of fishing.  Please don’t expect volunteer boat owners to lend out their gear or tackle.\nFilet knife and Ziploc bags – plan to clean your own fish\, please.\nA cooler to bring fish home.\nSunscreen\, hat\, sunglasses.\nA willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time – remember\, everyone there is a volunteer\, so set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends.\n\nSuggested tackle:  \nPlan to fish for bass\, but a few boats may fish for crappie. Each fisherman should bring their own rod. Appropriate rods are medium-light to medium action\, 6-7ft long\, either spinning or bait-casting. 12lb test monofilament or 20-30lb test braided line is sufficient.
