SUMMARY:2025 Proctor Lake Youth Whitetail and Feral Hog Hunts
DESCRIPTION:Overview:Â Blast & Cast will be hosting three hunts at Proctor Lake in Comanche County for boys and girls aged 7-17 during the 2025 Texas hunting season.Â  Participants will be selected via an application process.Â  The application deadline is September 15\, 2025. \nPurpose: To build meaningful relationships with other outdoorsmen for the purpose of leading them to\, or back to\, Jesus Christ while simultaneously assisting landowners with whitetail and feral hog population reduction efforts. \nDates: \nOctober 24-26 -Â  Comanche County Boys Hunt (Event Chair: Leigh Johannsen – Cell (804) 824-3058) \nNovember 21-23 – Comanche County Boys Hunt (Event Chair: Robert Herman – Cell (940) 799-8420) \nDecember 5-7 – Comanche County Girls Hunt (Event Chair: Jerrod Hancock – Cell (254) 485-4887) \nCost:Â Â Free.Â  This is a donor-supported event.Â  If you would like to help support the costs associated with the event\, please see the donations section below. \nLodging:Â  Lodging for all hunts is included.Â  Location and directions will be provided to hunt participants in advance of the hunt. \nMeals: Â Meals for all hunts are included. \nGiveaways:Â Â Each youth hunter will receive an event t-shirt and a door prize. \nHunting: \nAll Comanche County hunts will take place on land owned and operated by the Army Corps of Engineers surrounding Lake Proctor.Â  Park staff will be on hand to aid in transportation to and from hunting locations.Â  Blast & Cast volunteers will be available to sit with participants in the blind if requested.Â  Harvest goals and limits will be established by park staff prior to the season\, but limits usually include at least two whitetail does and any feral hogs encountered. \nRequirements: \n\nYouth aged 7-17 are eligible\, and only youth may harvest game.Â  A parent or legal guardian must attend with the youth hunter\, and both parent and youth must have a valid TPWD hunting license.\nScoped centerfire rifles only. .243 caliber minimum. No archery and no shotguns.\nAll youth hunters must successfully pass a range and safety test prior to hunting. Each youth must be capable of consistently hitting a paper plate at 100 yards to participate.Â  Decision of the Range Boss to pass/fail is final.Â  Please sight in your rifle and have your youth hunter practice prior to the event.\nBoth parent and youth must wear a hunter orange cap and vest at all times in the field.\nAll rules and regulations for Texas Parks & Wildlife apply. It is suggested that you read all county regulations and download the TPWD app (https://tpwd.texas.gov/regulations/outdoor-annual/app/) prior to the hunt.Â  Youth hunters and guardians should familiarize themselves with antler restrictions.\nAll guns around camp must remain unloaded\, in a gun case\, and inside a locked vehicle at all times. No guns inside the lodge or camp area. During transport to and from hunting locations\, all guns must be kept unloaded with action open at all times. No guns should be loaded until the vehicle dropping off is out of sight.Â  Guns should be unloaded with action open at least ten minutes before arranged pick up times.\nHunters/parents are encouraged to mark where an animal was shot but may not leave sight of the blind.Â  A Blast & Cast volunteer will assist with wounded animal recovery.\nGutting your harvested animal at or near your hunting area will not be allowed. There will be designated areas to process game.\nHunters/parents must field dress and quarter their own animals.Â  Blast & Cast volunteers will be present to assist anyone that does not know how.\nNo consumption of alcoholic beverages allowed before or during hunting hours. Drinking in moderation will be allowed after hunting. Drunkenness will not be tolerated.\nBE YOURSELFâ€¦please do not be someone you are not.\n\nDonations:Â  Donations and sponsorships are tax deductible!Â  These hunts are free to all participants\, so all costs associated will be covered by donations. DESCRIPTION:Purpose: To build lasting relationships with outdoorsmen through the ministry of  Blast & Cast Men’s Ministries. Our Central Texas chapter will also explore a future partnership with Bears Den Lodge as we join together to point outdoorsmen to the cross. \nDate:  Saturday\, July 5\, 2025 – Saturday\, July 12\, 2025. \nLocation: Bears Den Lodge – 114 NW Zarembo Drive\, Coffman Cove\, AK 99918 \n“The Bears Den can create a unique experience for you. If you want to saltwater fish\, we have the boat and tackle for you. If you want to explore more than two dozen rivers within minutes of Coffman Cove\, we can supply you with a spinning rod and tackle. Or if you prefer\, you can bring a personal fly rod and try to match the hatch!” – Bears Den Lodge. \nKeynote Speaker:    T/B/D \nRegistration:  \n\nADULT PARTICIPANT – $2\,800 (all-inclusive except for license\, airfare\, and fuel).\n\nAge limitations/restrictions:  Adults (18 yrs.+) – All participants are required to sign a liability waiver at check-in. \nCheck-In/Check-Out: \nRules:  \n\nNo perfect people allowed. Come as you are\, no pretending.\nNo drunkenness. Alcohol in moderation is allowed only after hunting is done for the day. Safety is a must!\nPlease watch profanity.\nHave a good time.\n\nWhat to Bring: Please bring sturdy outdoor clothing\, hiking boots\, and rain gear.
