SUMMARY:Montrose\, CO | 3-Day Pheasant Hunt
DESCRIPTION:“For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes\, His eternal power and divine nature\, have been clearly seen\, being understood through what has been made\, so that they are without excuse.” Romans 1:20 \nPurpose: To build meaningful relationships with other outdoorsmen for the purpose of leading them to\, or back to\, Jesus Christ. \nKeynote speaker: Dane LePlatt \nDates: Primary check-in will begin on Thursday\, October 16th at 6 pm. We will go out to dinner at a restaurant in Montrose. If you will not be able to check in by 9 pm on Thursday\, please let us know ahead of time.  The event will officially end at 8 am on Sunday\, October 19th. \nLiability/Minors:  All participants will be required to sign a liability waiver at sign-in. Participants must be at least 16 years old for this event\, and all participants under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. \nLodging: Mountaintop Retreat in Montrose\, CO – 339 Bible Camp Rd.\, Montrose\, CO 81401 \nDirections:  From Montrose take Highway 90 West (starting at the intersection of Townsend Avenue and Main Street also known as the intersection of State Highway 50\, 550\, and 90) go to County Road 6250 which takes you to Dave Wood Road.  The Camp Address is 339 Bible Camp Road Note: GPS units do not always work using this address.  Camp is approximately 15 miles from downtown Montrose. Just as you get to the tall ponderosa pine trees turn left at the camp sign on Bible Camp Road. \nRegistration: First registered first reserved! \nParticipant (Hunter) – $300.00 \nVolunteer Leadership – Please contact Event Chairman\, Dane LePlatt\, at (505)402-6966 for approval. \n Volunteers needed for the Event: \n\n  5 each – Volunteer Leader (Hunting) – $100\n  2 each – Volunteer Leader (Non-Hunting) – $100\n\nHunting: All hunting and shooting will take place at Black Canyon Wing & Clay\, a private upland game bird preserve.  We will hunt Friday morning and Saturday afternoon\, with the opportunity to harvest 4 pheasants and 1 chukar per hunter per day.  We will have volunteer dog handlers present to lead hunting parties. Our volunteers are paying their way for the event and are not professionals or licensed guides.  This is a buddy trip with friends\, not a guided trip. Each hunting participant is required to bring their own gear (listed below). \nEach volunteer will be assigned a party each day.  While we keep fathers and sons together\, usually you will be hunting with people you don’t know.  This is done purposefully so please don’t be surprised.  Please remember to be flexible and work together to make the event work. \nMeals: Meals will be provided for both Friday and Saturday.  Plan to eat supper before you arrive Thursday night.  Drinks and snacks will be available in limited amounts\, but plan to bring your favorite drinks and snacks. You may also want to pack drinks and snacks to bring with you while you’re hunting.  If you’d like to help out on the cook crew\, please let us know in advance! \nFreebies/Door prizes: Everyone present at the event will receive an event t-shirt and an entry for the door prize drawing that will be held on Saturday night. If you’d like to donate door prizes\, please let us know! \nRules:  \n\nNo perfect people allowed. Come as you are\, no pretending.\nNo drunkenness. Alcohol in moderation is allowed only after hunting is done for the day. Safety is a must!\nPlease watch profanity. We want to keep the environment kid-friendly.\nHave a good time.\n\nWhat to bring:   \n\nShotgun\nOne box of #5 or #6 shot for hunting\nTwo boxes of trap shot for practice at the range\nHiking boots\nComfortable\, layered clothing for hiking\nWater bottle\nBlaze orange vest\nKnife for bird cleaning\nCooler to take birds home\nSleeping bag and pillow\nToiletries and bath towel\nSnacks and drinks for in the field\nA willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time.  Remember\, everyone at the event is a volunteer.  Set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends\, not a guided hunt!\n\nContact info: The event chairman is Dane LePlatt.
