Breckenridge, TX | 1-Day Dove Hunt

Purpose:

To build meaningful relationships with other outdoorsmen for the purpose of leading them to, or back to, Jesus Christ.

Registration:

• Adult Participants (18 yrs+) – Free
• Youth Participants (under 18) – Free

Youth participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.  Limit one youth participant per parent/guardian, no exceptions.

Hunting:

Join us for a morning Texas dove hunt! We will hunt on Saturday, October 18, 2025 (from early morning until lunch) at JNL Ranch near Breckenridge, TX.

As part of our discounted agreement for youth hunters, adults will not shoot birds to fill limits for the youth. We will observe all applicable laws and regulations and pick up our spent shells. Plan to clean your own birds.

Lunch:

After hunting we will meet at the Ranch for lunch which will be provided for all participants.  Some drinks will be provided with the meal, but it is recommended that participants bring their own drinks while in the field.  Alcohol will not be allowed prior to or during the hunt.

Rules:

1. Perfect people are not allowed. Come as you are, no pretending.
2. Alcohol will not be allowed prior to or during the hunt but may be consumed in moderation after all firearms are put away.
3. Please helps us keep the environment kid-friendly by limiting profanity.
4. Have a good time.

What to bring: 

• Everyone should bring their own shotgun (with plug) and shells
• Sunscreen, bug spray, hat, sunglasses, and/or rain gear, depending on the weather
• Camo or earth-tone clothing and boots
• Mojo dove decoy (optional)
• Valid Texas Hunting License with Migratory bird endorsement, HIP certification and proof of hunter’s education
• Knife and Ziploc bags – plan to clean your own birds
• A cooler and ice
• Drinks and snacks for in the field
• Dove stool or chair to sit on in the field
• A willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time.  Remember, everyone helping is a volunteer so set your expectations as though you are going on a weekend trip with friends.
• Bring plenty of shells. The average is 5 to 7 shots for every downed dove. Another report put average kill rates at 3 birds per box of shells.
