“I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat… John 21:3

Purpose:

To reach men with the gospel of Jesus Christ and build relationships that support the discipleship of these men.

Date:

Friday, May 10th from 6:00 am until 2:00 pm.

Location:

Horseshoe Bend Marina across from Liverpool Ice House (7301 County Rd 203A, Liverpool, TX 77577) – CLICK HERE for map.

Registration:

Free!  Space is limited so register now.  We will prioritize opportunities for those who have not attended Blast & Cast events in the past.  Veteran Blast & Cast participants should find a way to volunteer and support the event.

Minimum Age: Youth anglers must be accompanied by a legal guardian.  Limit one youth per adult please (i.e. father and son).

Fishing:

We will have volunteers present along with their boats. Our volunteer boat owners are not licensed guides and are not being compensated for the trip. No tips are allowed, but please bring cash to chip in for your portion of gas, ice, and bait.  Each volunteer boat owner will be assigned a fishing party that is suitable to their boat and style of fishing. While we keep fathers and sons together, usually you will be fishing with people you don’t know. This is done purposefully so please don’t be surprised. Please be flexible in your style of fishing and plan to follow the lead of the boat owner you are assigned to.  Essentially, treat this like a fishing trip with a friend… this is NOT a guided trip.

Participants should arrive no later than 6:00 am to be checked in and paired up.

Important Note: There is a $10 fee to launch boats and there is limited dock space. Boats must be launched after the devotional.

Following the message, groups will be dismissed to participate in the fishing (7:00 am).

Meals:

Lunch will be provided by a local church partner.

Rules:

  1. No perfect people allowed. Come as you are, no pretending.
  2. Alcohol will not be allowed on boats but will be allowed in moderation after the boat is on the trailer.
  3. Please be mindful of your language when youth participants are around.
  4. Have a good time.

What to bring:

  • Chair for lunch in the parking lot.
  • Valid Texas saltwater fishing license.
  • Fishing gear, including rods, reels, and tackle. Volunteer boat owners are not expected to lend out their gear.
  • Youth anglers must bring a properly-sized life jacket.
  • Cash for boat gas, ice, or any live bait you would like to use (note: live bait is available at Lute’s Marine on the water).
  • Boat snacks and drinks.
  • Sunscreen, hat, and sunglasses.
  • Filet knife and Ziploc bags – plan to clean your own fish, please.
  • A cooler to bring fish home.
  • A willing attitude that’s eager to help make it work and have a good time – remember, everyone there is a volunteer, so set your expectations as though you are going on a trip with friends.

Suggested tackle:

Plan to fish for redfish, trout, and flounder. Each fisherman should bring their own rod. Appropriate rods are medium-light to medium action, 6-7ft long, either spinning or bait-casting. 12lb test monofilament or 20-30lb test braided line is sufficient. We recommend putting fresh line on reels if you haven’t done so in the last few months.
